Capably led by Pr Dana Howard, the Youth Ministry Department seeks to train and equip young people within the church to better serve God in all aspects of their lives. The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Australia works with people in poverty and distress to create just and positive change through empowering partnerships and responsible action. It achieves this in various ways:
- Disaster relief – meeting immediate, short-term, emergency needs by providing shelter, clothing, food and medical treatment
- Food security – ensuring communities have adequate and sustainable food sources
- Civil society strengthening – empowering communities with strong leaders and groups
- Health – preventing the spread of disease and also promoting healthy living within communities
- Education – breaking the poverty cycle by giving communities access to essential education
- Economic Development – creating self-sufficient communities by providing income opportunities

There are two ADRA Shops in Tasmania:
Our Adventist Schools seek to provide quality Christian education to our children as well as those from the community. So if you’re looking for dedicated and caring teachers, smaller class sizes, individualised attention and a great ethos, look no further than our two schools!
We believe that good health goes hand in hand with being a good follower of Jesus. And being in good health allows us to experience life to the full. So we are passionate about living better and longer and want to encourage others to share in the experience of good health. Some ways we do this are:
- Smoking Cessation: Quit Now
- Health, Nutrition and Wellbeing
- Stress Management: Beyond Coping
- Vegetarian Cooking Classes
- Health Age Assessment
- Community Health Education Presenting (CHEP)
- Coronary Heart Improvement Program (CHIP)
Vicki has a heart and passion for empowering women to realise their full potential for God. In leading out in this important area she seeks to lift up Jesus so that through His transforming grace women will be nurtured, valued and empowered to have an effective ministry in the home, church and community.
Ministry for Ministers
Ministry offers the greatest joy in bringing the good news of salvation to people, however, it can at times be stressful and lonely and so the role of the Ministerial Secretary is to be the Pastors’ Pastor.
This role falls into three broad areas.
- Personal Wellbeing in spiritual and emotional health where the minister and their family can feel valued.
- Professional Development through the regular pastoral meetings and fellowship;
- Assistance with Strategic Focus through peer sharing and seminars.
The Tasmanian conference ministerial team, though small, is a diverse team, and the challenges that face the churches are inherently complex that requires a diverse set of skills. The Ministerial Association is here to create a supportive environment to allow each member of the team to reach their full potential in their service to God.
Partners in Ministry
Lyn believes that the ministers in our churches work more effectively with a supportive and happy spouse who become isolated from support of their own extended families and close friends.
Her goal is to be there for them through phone calls and encouraging messages, passing on info that will help them with their spiritual life, marriages and child support, and arranging get together’s to let them know we are grateful of their sacrifices.
