Who would benefit by attending this talk?

  • Anyone with insulin resistance, pre-diabetes and diabetes
  • Anyone who is overweight, especially if they have a family history of diabetes
  • People who are genetically at higher risk of diabetes i.e. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Pacific islander, Asian or Indian ethnicity

  • Is diabetes inevitable if you have a family history?
  • Is diabetes preventable? How effective is “lifestyle medicine” for preventing diabetes compared to taking pills?
  • Is it possible to reverse diabetes once you have it and when is remission most likely?
  • Can I improve my blood glucose further if I’m already on tablets or insulin?
  • Are low carb diets advisable for diabetes? Can I still eat fruit?
  • Does the source of protein in your diet matter?
  • Is breakfast skipping or having irregular meals throughout the day bad for you?
  • How does timing of meals affect your blood glucose and insulin levels?
  • Eating to prevent and treat diabetes is not just about avoiding sugar and sugary foods
  • This talk may challenge your thinking about what to eat and when you should have it
  • If you have diabetes or are at risk for this condition it can’t be “business as usual” as your current food choices may be silently promoting disease!
