Darryl Groves

Pastor of Wynyard, Smithton and King Island Churches

Born and raised in Glenore Grove, a small village in Lockyer Valley, Darryl is the middle child of three boys in a non-Christian home. Introduced to Pathfinders at 15 - to keep him out of trouble - he made some good friends who lead him to attending Church and doing Bible studies. Darryl was baptised in 1988 and a year later, married his beautiful wife Arlagene in 1989. In 2005, Darryl attended Avondale University and later began pastoring in Murwillumbah in 2010 and was later called to pastor in Gatton in 2017 before being called to minister in the North of Tasmania in 2023. Darryl and Arlagene have four children together, one of which has moved to Tasmania to teach in Hobart, and another is attending North West Christian School. The focus of his ministry is to encourage followers of Christ to create space in their lives to connect, engage, and empower people in their community. His favourite bible text is John 16:33 (NIV) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Find your purpose in Christ, serve your church and community in different ways. Live life abundantly.
