Jacob Ellis
North-West Christian School Chaplain, Devonport Church Pastor & Ulverstone Church Associate Pastor
Originally form Mount Gambier, South Australia, Jacob knew he wanted to be a pastor at 12 years old. Despite his parents advising he wait until he was older to make that decision, his passion for ministry and serving never died. Still, Jacob took a gap year following year 12, working as an assistant teacher in music and sport. After one year, he went to Avondale University to study Ministry and Theology, graduating at the end of 2022 feeling assured in his calling and greatly blessed. Tasmania is his first appointment, which we started in early 2023. Jacob is the eldest of five children (2 brothers, 2 sisters), and is married to Morgan. In his spare time, Jacob likes to play piano and soccer, and enjoys watching and listening to musicals. Jacob is passionate about young people and journeying with them through discipleship. He says that 'I don’t want people to think they know who Jesus is, but experience who he has revealed himself to be.' Jacobs favourite bible text changes based on what season of life he is in, but the one he quotes most often is Romans 12:2 (NIV) - 'Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.'
