Four baptisms in one day
On May 26, 2025, the Smithton church had the joy of welcoming four new members into their congregation: Bob, Nelia, Vic, and Nathan. Bob and Nelia had been attending church for some time and had developed wonderful friendships with the members. More importantly, their relationship with Jesus had grown even stronger.
Nelia was the first to decide to be baptised. As Bob continued attending Bible studies, he too made the decision to follow Jesus in baptism. Vic, who had also been coming to church for some time, heard about the baptisms and felt it was time to make his own public declaration of faith.
I had been studying the Bible with Bob and Nelia on Thursday afternoons, just before our men’s Bible study group. Around that time, Nathan—a colleague of George, one of our church members—expressed a desire to learn about Jesus and the Bible. Together, we studied almost all the way through the Gospel of Mark. As the baptisms approached, I asked Nathan if he had considered baptism himself. He smiled and said it was funny I should ask, because over the past couple of weeks he had been seriously thinking about it and would love to be baptised along with the others.
That same afternoon, both Vic and Nathan made their decision. What a blessing! The church was overjoyed to witness not just one baptism, but four. God has richly blessed the Smithton congregation this year, and we look forward to even more baptisms before the year is finished.
